My family seems to think this is vacation – Minneapolis to western Montana in the car. Up early tomorrow morning, and stay a week, then drive back. Glacier National park is just a hop north, I hope to get out there for a hike or two, it’s great. Otherwise sitting around, reading, swimming in the big lake should make up my activity, I’ll keep the powerbook in my backpack.

A delightful and quick primer on backpacking. Easy to read with lots of drawings and good advice. I’ve always wanted to take a backpacking trip, and now I might just know how to go about it.
Spring break is just winding down for me, and having skipped out on a week of tennis and U classes I might as well procrastinate getting back into my real life by writing about it.
Me and the family made our winter exodus to my grandparents place in Montana, packing up the car with six people a dog and lots of piles of crap. We visited with family and skied mostly, it was a good time.
After a brisk hike up a wooded shoulder, we emerge on a promontory in the Four Pines area, two canyons over from the resort. The huge, empty swaths of mountain and canyon are why we’re in this course: I could ski up here every day for a year and not cross my own tracks once.
A three day camp in Jackson Hole Wyoming teaching the safety aspects of backcountry skiing. Expensive ($545), but skiing at the resort costs $70 a day just for tickets… God I wanna go just be a ski bum.
School got out today, so I’m now quite excited to get out into the real world this summer. Soccer should keep me fairly busy, I might have a few friends who I will spend a little time with, and then there are some foreigners coming to stay chez moi – This summer should be great.
