On the military industrial complex. When war gets this profitable, we’re going to see lots more of it. Opening in a week or two around the country.
How many americans are there with days named after them, anyway? Presidents day is mostly about Washington and Lincoln. Labor Day oddly enough comes out of those goddamn socialist wishes for reasonable wages and the 8 hour workday. Fuck Columbus, he was the biggest asshole. That leaves Veterans and Memorial days. MLK is the only guy with his own day.
He deserves it.
What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.
This is leading a few extremists today to advocate for Negroes the same destructive and conscienceless power that they have justly abhorred in whites. It is precisely this collision of immoral power with powerless morality which constitutes the major crisis of our times.
And I say to you, I have also decided to stick to love. For I know that love is ultimately the only answer to mankind’s problems. And I’m going to talk about it everywhere I go. And huh, the US federal government conspired, along with the city of Memphis and the state of Tennessee to kill the guy. I hadn’t heard that before. It came out in a wrongful death trial in 1999, and is noted a few places, yet disputed by scholars. Fuckin’ a.
I saw five squaws under a bank for shelter. When the troops came up to them they ran out and showed their persons, to let the soldiers know they were squaws and begged for mercy, but the soldiers shot them all…There were some thirty or forty squaws collected in a hole for protection; they sent out a little girl about six years old with a white flag on a stick; she had not proceeded but a few steps when she was shot and killed. All the squaws in the hole were afterwards killed… The squaws offered no resistance. Every one I saw dead was scalped. I saw one squaw cut open with an unborn child, as I thought, lying by her side…I saw quite a number of infants in arms killed with their mothers.” Robert Bent, in US Senate report The Chivington Massacre
Does this much thought go into any sorts of music these days? Amazing, or just over analyzation?
