An excellent book, both at introducing and documenting the language. Incredibly exhaustive, almost everything I’ve ever wondered about reading through bits of ruby got a mention or two and really cleared my head.
800 pages, and about half is explanation of the language and it’s features, the rest pure documentation of classes and methods and the like of the standard library and a few others. I’ve only read through the first half, I don’t think I could stand 400 pages of method descriptions.
The book is great, and it really can clarify a lot for someone who has dabbled a little in programming ruby and has a general idea of what its about. I would recommend it, along with the language ruby and a few of the tutorials around the internet, to anyone looking to break into programming.
