A very interesting book, Wicked chronicles the life of the wicked witch of the west as she grows up in the world of Oz, the same as in L. Frank Baum’s classic “The Wizard of Oz.”
Elphaba, the child of a devout Unionist minister and the freewheeling daughter of semi-royalty, has green skin and greawt big teeth. As she grows, she proves to be capable of normal social affairs, although she eventually chooses to live somthing of a solitary life.
An interesting story, I think I should have read The Wizard of Oz first, just to clarify a few of the important points later in the book. But for the most part, Wickedis a novel which stands on it’s own and deserves all the praise it get’s.
