So I’m off at college, and things are going fine. A few quick bits:
- I live on the fourth floor of my dorm. There are 45 stairs between my room and the ground, and I go up and down at least seven times a day. My calves are getting to be monstrous, but they’ve also been sore since the day after I got here.
- The food isn’t bad. I was worried because during the few days of freshman orientation it really was sub par, even for cafeteria food, and I couldn’t stand the idea of eating it for the next eight months. Maybe the real cooks hadn’t come to work yet, but the food has been getting steadily better.
- Cafeteria food is too much. There aren’t limits as to how much you can eat, which leads to overeating at every meal and leaving food service with a stomach ache.
- My classes aren’t bad, but I wouldn’t say they’re anything special. I have Csci 1302, which deals in logic as it applies to computer science, and looks fun and interesting to a point. Physics 1091 looks like quite a bore. I’ve always liked french, and don’t see French 3001 as worse or better then any french I’ve ever taken. My first year seminar on the evolution of people called (Out of Africa) has a great looking prof and at least one interesting looking book.
- The other thing about college is that I’ve got so much free time. MWF I have two classes, and go from 9:15 to 11:35. Tuesday I have french at 10 and FYS from 1 – 2, ditto thursday plus a physics lab. And the homework doesn’t seem like it will be all that hard, but I guess that depends on how hard I feel like trying.
