I’m finally ready to get a computer, now I just need to pick the right one and get it. Just some rumination. update: I ordered it this morning, and boy am I giddy now (and I deleted the last post because I hated it).
I tried to get the computer sometime yesterday, but there must not be a lot of them, because I fiddled around for a few minutes and when I tried to check out, there weren’t any left!
I got really mad, but no big deal now that I ordered one the same morning. What kind is it you ask?
PowerBook 12-inch 1.5GHz Combo Drive Apple Certified Refurbished Part Number: F9690LL/A
Keyboard/Mac OS – U.S. English
AirPort Extreme Card
512MB DDR333 (256MB built-in + 256MB SODIMM)
60GB Ultra ATA drive @5400rpm
Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
There should be bluetooth, it was listed on a previous page… Just not on the order confirmation. The refurbished stuff apple sells isn’t exactly the easiest to understand.
I was going to buy a wireless mouse and keyboard, but even at refurbished prices they cost $100 together, and that’s just out of my price range. Hopefully the google code results come out, and on the long shot I win I’ll be tempted to splurge on an external monitor and a keyboard mouse combo. Stay tuned for some sweet photos of the thing.
The only thing still up in the air is what to name the computer, up until now all my computers have had real boring names, there’s been imac and ibook, and in the older days it was Macintosh HD. My list of possible names is at three right now: it’s between ambrose, chamois, and monk.
I ended up being too much of a wuss to get the thing off ebay, what if I was the one in a million you really got burned in the deal? I wouldn’t have been able to handle it. I feel kind of bad because apple probably will drop the prices on the laptops next tuesday, but hey. Can’t wait until the thing gets here!
